RRB NTPC Selection Process: Railway ASM, Goods Guard Selection

RRB NTPC Graduate Selection Process – Railway Selection Procedure for ASM, Goods Guard, TA, CA Posts: Railway (CEN 03/2015) Non-Technical Exam (ASM, Goods Guard) Selection process for candidates applying for 18252 Railway vacancies. Railway ASM, Goods Guard Selection Process

Before proceeding to Railway ASM, Goods Guard, TA, CA Selection Profess candidates must have a look at the Railway NTPC job profile of the post they are going to be recruitment for. Railway selection process is not same for each posts. Although Railway ASM, Goods Guard is single stage exam however candidates have to undergo other recruitment process. Confirmed: There will be Mains Exam in Railway NTPC.

RRB NTPC 2016: Mode of Selection

Selection is made strictly as per Merit. There has been a common CBT (Computer Based Test) Online examination for all the above mentioned posts. Check out the post wise Selection Process for Railway Recruitment 2016 against RRB CEN 03/2015.

For CA, TA, Goods Guard Posts: Final merit will be drawn on the basis of Marks obtained in Preliminary & Mains Online examination (CBT).

For Sr Clerk-Typist, Account Asst Posts: There will be Typing Skill test of qualifying nature. Marks obtained in Typing Skill test shall not be added for making merit list.

For ASM & Traffic Assistant Posts: Apart from Prelim & Mains exam marks, final merit will be prepared based on candidates performance in Psychological Test.

Online Examination (Prelim & Mains)


All those candidates who will apply for Railway ASM, Goods Guard recruitment will be called for a Online Examination known as Computer Based Test (CBT). A separate call letter indicating date of examination, time and online exam center will be sent to all such candidates. Railway has recently changes its RRB CEN 03/2015 Railway NTPC Graduate exam pattern. Check below to know what’s new in Railway ASM, Goods Guard exams.

RRB NTPC First Stage (P.T.)

Common first Stage (Preliminary) Online Examination will be conducted for all posts. There will be Online examination for Railway NTPC Graduate posts for the first time.

  • RRB NTPC Prelim exam will be qualifying in nature.
  • Marks obtained in PT exam will not be added in Final Merit.
  • Written Exam will consists of objective type multiple choice (4 options) question paper based on 10th class standard to assess the general knowledge/awareness/mathematics /reasoning etc.
  • There are 100 Questions and the duration of Written Examination is of 90 minutes.
  • The question paper will be printed in Hindi, English, Urdu and other local language.
  • There will be negative marking for marking wrong answers. 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

RRB NTPC Second Stage (Mains)

Candidates qualified in RRB NTPC PT Exam, will be called for Second Stage (CBT) Online Examination for all posts. There will be another Online examination for Railway NTPC Graduate posts.
  • Final Merit will be drawn only based on second stage exam marks in CBT.
  • Written Exam consists of objective type multiple choice (4 options) question paper based on 10th class standard to assess the general knowledge/awareness/mathematics /reasoning etc.
  • There are 100 Questions and the duration of Written Examination is of 90 minutes.
  • The question paper will be printed in Hindi, English, Urdu and other local language.
  • There will be negative marking for marking wrong answers. 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Typing Test (Skill Test):

Those aspirants who qualify Railway CEN 2015 Senior Clerk, Reservation-Enquiry Clerk, Typist, Assistant & Time keeper online examination will be called for Typing Skill test. Typing Skill test will be of qualifying nature only and shall be conducted for which the number of candidates equal to eight times the number of vacancies shall be called for.

  • The candidates must be able to type 30 WPM in English and 25 WPM in Hindi on Personal Computer only.
  • For Hindi Typing test, KrutiDev and Mangal font will be available for skill test on Computer.

Aptitude Test: 

Aptitude test followed by verification of documents for ASM & Traffic Assistant posts only.

Document Verification

Candidates those who qualify RRB CEN 03/2015 Online Exam and Typing skill test based on the merit, short-listed candidates are called for documents and candidature verification.

Medical Examination

All those candidates who are found eligible after document and candidature verification, they are referred for medical examination. Candidates will have to pass requisite medical fitness tests conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit for the post.
Note: Due to low marks in the online (CBT) examination, many candidates may not be called for Medical test.

Final Selection:

Final recruitment panel will be strictly based on merit position obtained in Computer Based Test CBT (Online examination). At last, Concerned Railway Board RCB releases Merit list based on the candidate’s performance in online examination, Typing Skill Test, Aptitude Test, document verification and medical test for NTPC Graduate vacancies for TA, CA, ASM, Goods Guard, and Clerk-Typist posts. In this final list only qualified candidate’s name will be mentioned and they will be called soon for training.
