SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Stenographer (Grade ‘C’ and Grade ‘D’) Examination once a year. This year too, SSC is conducting Stenographer Examination which has scheduled to be held on 31st July (31-07-2016). All those candidates who are going to appear for SSC Stenographer written examination must know exam pattern details given below.


Like other SSC Exam, the SSC Stenographer examination will consist of a written examination. There will be an extra skill test in stenography as second stage of exam.

SSC Stenographer Exam Structure:

The written examination will consist of one objective type paper as shown below. Candidates must have knowledge of exam scheme which follows SSC for its written examination of SSC Stenographer Grade C and Grade D posts.

Question Type: The Paper will consist of Objective Type- Multiple choice questions only. The questions except in Part III will be set both in English & Hindi.

Marking Scheme: There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.

Instructions: Candidates are not permitted to use Mobile Phone, Calculators or any other electronic/electrical device for answering any paper (Test Booklets). Candidates must not, therefore, bring Mobile Phone, Calculators or any other electronic/electrical device inside the Examination premises. Possession of these items, whether in use or not, will be considered as “use of unfair means” in the Examination and appropriate action will be taken by the Commission against such candidates, as per extant policy of the Commission.
